We’re so excited to announce that Making It Better’s new Ready, Set, Read bus is here! Now we’re on a mission to transform this bus into a mobile classroom, giving access to critical pre-reading programming to little ones and their parents. We need YOUR help to make it happen!
To raise awareness and money for this effort, we’re launching the Making It Better Tongue Twister Challenge, and we’re asking you to help us kick it off. As an influencer and leader in the community, we know your support will go a long way toward getting others on board. Together, we aim to raise at least $10,000 to help us turn the bus into a classroom on wheels and put books in the hands of children in the neediest areas of Houston.
The campaign kicks off on Giving Tuesday (November 28), which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving to charitable organizations.
You can help in three easy steps:
Step 1: Record a video of yourself, on your phone, attempting to say the Making It Better tongue twister at least three times in a row. Challenge three friends, family members or co-workers to also take the challenge AND to make a donation to Making It Better’s Ready, Set, Read campaign. Here is the tongue twister:
“Reading ready readers reap rewards!”
Step 2: On Tuesday, November 28, upload the video to Facebook by going to your account via your phone and uploading the video to a new post (the same way you would add a photo) with a link to the Making It Better donation page https://bit.ly/2iHeWCw and “Text-To-Give by texting TWISTER to 41444” in your post. Be sure to tag your friends and Making It Better (@makingitbetter). Here’s an example:
I’m challenging @jacquedaughtry, @kenekelly and @kimberlysuckow to take the Making It Better Tongue Twister Challenge. It’s not as easy as it looks! @makingitbetter #tonguetwisterchallenge #GivingTuesday
Step 3: Go to the Making It Better donation page https://bit.ly/2iHeWCw and make a donation to the cause or Text-To-Give by texting TWISTER to 41444.
We hope you will take the challenge and join us in stomping out the literacy crisis in Houston.
