Children and parents residing at Belmont Place Apartments continued to attend our weekly Ready, Set, Read! program with enthusiasm. Parents, as well as our volunteer facilitators, observed tremendous growth in the children’s excitement for reading time! Lessons filled with stories, singing, and tactile activities surrounding letters, shapes and colors, certainly gave these children something to look forward to each week. Parents expressed their sadness when the program ended in April, and said they look forward to returning in the fall. This is such a great program for those who cannot get to the public libraries around town, and with your continued support, we hope to expand it to other communities!
Program Results 2015-16 100 % of surveyed parents reported:
- They would recommend the program to other parents and caregivers.
- They formed relationships with other participants in the program.
- Their children have a greater interest in books and listening to stories as a result of participating in the program.
- They are more likely to attend library story time with their children.
